I'm always on the hunt for fresh content and I know this community is great at finding hidden gems. What new podcasts to listen to have you stumbled upon in the last month or two? I'm talking about shows that started this year or maybe even just a few months ago. I'm getting a bit tired of my usual rotation and need some podcast suggestions that are actually new and exciting.
Normal Gossip is my recent favorite discovery. It's just people sharing anonymized gossip from their lives and the host and guest discuss it. Sounds weird but it's incredibly addictive. The storytelling is great and it feels like listening to friends share crazy stories.
Scamanda just wrapped up and it was incredible. True crime about a woman who faked cancer for years. The reporting is meticulous and the story unfolds perfectly over the season. It's the kind of new podcast that reminds you why you love the medium.
Foundering about the rise and fall of WeWork is fascinating business storytelling. It just started this year and has amazing access to people who were there. For something completely different, The Great Detectives of Old Time Radio is a historian analyzing classic radio mysteries - niche but wonderful.
Mystery Show is technically not new but it just got re-released with old and new episodes. Starlee Kine solves bizarre little mysteries and it's the most charming thing ever. Also The Turning: Sisters Who Left about nuns leaving religious life is surprisingly gripping.
Hard Fork from NYT is relatively new and covers tech news in a really accessible way. The hosts have great chemistry. For something completely different, Articles of Interest about the history and meaning of clothing is surprisingly deep and well produced.
Maintenance Phase debunks wellness and diet culture with humor and research. It's not brand new but still growing. The Empty Bowl is a meditative podcast about cereal - sounds ridiculous but it's actually peaceful and funny. Both are unique additions to my rotation.
