I went through traditional art school critique methods, and while they were sometimes brutal, they definitely prepared me for receiving creative criticism in the real world. But I've noticed that professional feedback for creative projects often works differently.
In school, the focus was mostly on artistic growth through feedback, but in the professional world, there are deadlines, client expectations, and budget constraints to consider. The feedback needs to be actionable within real world limitations.
Have you found that art school critique methods helped or hindered your ability to give and receive feedback professionally? What adjustments did you need to make?
