With standardized testing season coming up, I wanted to share some of the most effective SAT math tricks and ACT math shortcuts I teach my students. Time management is everything on these tests, so having quick calculation methods can make a huge difference.

One of my favorite ACT math shortcuts is for percentage problems. Instead of converting to decimals, you can often use fractions. For example, 25% of 48 is the same as 1/4 of 48 = 12. What are some other GRE math tricks or GMAT math shortcuts you've found helpful for standardized exams? I'm especially interested in geometry tricks and algebra shortcuts that work well under time pressure.
