I've been collecting mathematical shortcuts and helpful math hacks for years now, and I'm always looking for new math problem solving techniques. One of my favorites is the trick for quickly squaring numbers ending in 5. You take the first digit, multiply it by itself plus one, then put 25 at the end. So 35 squared would be 3*(3+1)=12, then add 25 to get 1225.
What are some of your go-to math tricks for problem solving? I'm especially interested in quick math calculations and mental math tricks that save time on tests or in everyday situations.
