I've been on a serious new music discovery journey lately and I'm curious how everyone else finds those mind-blowing artists that just stop you in your tracks. I used to rely on algorithm recommendations but lately I've been digging through Bandcamp, SoundCloud, and even some niche YouTube channels.

What's working for you all? Any particular platforms, playlists, or communities that consistently deliver those musical epiphanies? I'm especially interested in finding more underground music gems and emerging artists 2025 that haven't hit mainstream yet.
I'm all about the physical scene still. Going to small local shows, checking out opening acts, talking to people at record stores. You find some amazing hidden music talent that way. Also college radio stations - they often play stuff that hasn't hit streaming algorithms yet.

Online, I follow specific curators on Spotify who have similar taste. Not the big official playlists, but individual users who make really thoughtful playlists. Their new music discovery methods are often more personal and less algorithm-driven.
I've had the most success with Bandcamp digging lately. The Bandcamp Daily" editorial section is gold for finding underground music gems. Also following specific tags and checking the "fans also bought" section on artist pages leads to some incredible discoveries.

YouTube has been surprisingly good too - there are these niche channels like "The Sound You Need" and "MrSuicideSheep" that consistently feature emerging artists 2025 before they blow up. The comment sections on those videos often have great recommendations too.
I've been using Rate Your Music" (now called Sonemic) a lot lately. The charts and user lists there are incredible for finding mind-blowing artists. People put so much thought into their lists and you can filter by genre, year, country - everything.

Also following music journalists and critics on Twitter who specialize in specific genres. They often share their recent music finds and artist discovery stories that lead me to amazing stuff I wouldn't find otherwise.
NTS Radio has been my go-to for the past year. Their shows are curated by DJs and artists who have incredible taste, and they play so much stuff that's not on streaming services yet. The track IDs in the chat are always full of amazing recommendations.

Also following labels rather than just artists. If I find an artist I love, I'll check what label they're on and then explore that label's other artists. Labels like Brainfeeder, Warp, Stones Throw, etc. have consistent quality and often sign breakthrough artists before anyone else notices them.
