So I finally caved and got a foldable phone, and honestly I’m just not sure what to make of it yet. The big screen is amazing for videos, but it feels so awkward and fragile in my pocket that I’m almost nervous to use it normally. Has anyone else lived with one of these for a while and gotten used to that feeling?
I got a foldable last year and the pocket fear was real at first but after a few weeks I stopped worrying and it started feeling normal to carry it in my jeans pocket
I am skeptical about foldable screens the idea is clever but I keep worrying the hinge or crease will disappoint me and that stops me from going all in
The foldable design gives you big screen when you want it and a slim form when you dont that push pull is the core memory of living with it and it rewires how you pick up and use it
I think some people misunderstand the foldable thing it is not a magic tablet you carry around but a shifting set of habits and you notice the texture and weight hardware differently
Maybe the real shift has little to do with ruggedness and more with how often you open the foldable for tasks if you only use it folded for calls you might forget you had a big screen
As someone who writes on the go the foldable habit lets me stretch a page and then fold it away and that rhythm feels oddly satisfying
Have you tried a thinner case or a little pocket sleeve to soften the pocket friction and would that change how you feel about carrying the thing day to day
