So I just got a weird email that looks like it’s from my bank, asking me to click a link to verify a small transaction I don’t recognize. The strange part is, it actually mentions my bank’s name correctly and the last four digits of my card, which has me second-guessing. Has anyone else had this happen, where the phishing attempt includes just enough real info to make you pause?
That mix of real details with a fake request is a classic phishing trap and it feels unnerving when it mirrors your bank.
Do not click the link instead call your bank using a number from the back of your card or the official site to check the transaction.
It might be clever but it still smells like a scam your bank would not ask for verification over email.
Maybe the bigger point is how we treat quick prompts in messages rather than chasing the one email you saw.
As a reader the phrasing buys trust the balance between real data and a sense of urgency makes phishing feel plausible.
Enable two step verification and set up real time alerts on your bank app to catch fake charges early.
I would not assume this is from your bank it could be phishing designed to look local keep calm and verify through official channels.
