Full Version: When did my morning routine become scrolling time?

Okay, so I’ve been trying to get up at 5:30 AM for a few weeks now to get a head start on my day. The weird thing is, I’m actually waking up, but then I just lie there for like 45 minutes scrolling or staring at the ceiling. Has anyone else hit this point where you’re technically doing the early rise but totally missing the productive morning routine you were aiming for?
I hear you. you rise at five thirty and then stare at the ceiling while the phone gremlins steal focus. the morning routine can feel like a trap when your brain wants dopamine instead of plans. you are not alone in this
Sleep inertia can linger after five thirty so the first action matters. make the morning routine easier by starting with a tiny task before reaching for the phone like opening a window or drinking water. the routine stays but the bar is lower
Maybe you are forcing a boss level morning routine and today your brain just wants quiet. the fix could be loosening the grip and letting the day arrive on its own while the routine still exists as a concept rather than a chase
What if the problem is the framing not the time what if the aim was not to sprint at dawn but to set a gentler rhythm and anchor for the day?
you could try habit stacking in the morning routine to pair a tiny action with an existing habit like brushing teeth it makes the routine feel doable instead of a big ask
I wake up and scroll sometimes too which makes the start feel hollow maybe swap the phone for a simple five minute ritual in the morning routine and see if the brain shifts away from doom scrolling
