So I finally got my hands on a PS5 after all this time, and I’m honestly a bit overwhelmed by the sheer number of settings. I spent like an hour last night just fiddling with the performance versus resolution modes in a couple of games, trying to decide what feels right. Does anyone else get kind of paralyzed by all these graphics options now, where you just end up tweaking more than actually playing?
I get how you feel about the graphics options on the PS5 it can turn a night of playing into a long stretch of tweaking one game after another and you still may not land on something that feels right
From a design point of view the choice between performance and quality is a real trade off it changes what you notice during action and what you miss in textures
I think the real trap is that some games pretend to offer simple toggles but then sneak in other tiny graphics knobs that drift you away from playing
I am not sure this is a magic solution the game engine might do more of the heavy lifting than your settings and the payoff can be tiny
Maybe the point is not to chase the perfect look but to stay in a comfortable pace and stay in the moment of the game rather than chasing numbers
I keep a couple of presets saved and I still flinch every time a new game asks me to choose a mode before I can actually start having fun
Have you tried to set a single stable baseline and see if you notice a difference rather than fiddling with every option
