Okay, this is kind of a specific thing, but has anyone else ever completely lost the plot with a long-running superhero title? I was trying to catch up on the main X-Men line after a busy few months, and I realized I have no solid idea how we got from where we were to this current status quo. I feel like I missed a single, crucial issue that ties it all together.
Totally get you I jumped back into X-Men lately and felt like I woke up in a different book after a long break.
If you want a through line you could map the big arcs that shaped the status quo and note who leads the team and what Krakoa stands for.
I used to chase a single issue that would tie the whole thing together and then realized long runs usually hide a web of threads not a neat hinge.
Sure the idea of a single crucial issue sounds tidy but in a sprawling X-Men run the status quo shifts with every crossover and you end up with more questions than answers.
Maybe the thing to ask is not where the thread ends but how reading in chunks shapes what feels confusing about X-Men.
Some pages feel like mood pieces others push a big theme and that mismatch is part of the charm but it can also trip you when you try to catch up fast.
Krakoa as a concept is huge and not always explained in a clean way yet you start to notice the beats when you see who calls the shots and what the place promises.
