I just got my blood work back and my doctor said my ferritin is a bit low, but my hemoglobin is normal. I’m not really anemic, but I’ve been feeling so tired and foggy for months. Has anyone else been in this weird in-between spot? I’m not sure what to make of it or if I should even be concerned.
I hear you The in between spot where ferritin is low but hemoglobin stays normal is oddly frustrating It can feel like you are chasing answers for months
Low ferritin can cause fatigue even when the blood count looks normal It means the iron stores are down not the red cells yet
Maybe the fatigue is about more than one number Ferritin is part of the story but not the whole story
What if the bigger question is how we listen to the body rather than chasing a lab label The idea of iron deficiency matters but your lived experience matters more
If you want practical steps you could ask your doctor about monitoring ferritin levels and whether iron supplementation is appropriate Also check how well your iron is absorbed and what might help with gut health
I am not a clinician so this is just a sounding board If you feel overwhelmed consider a sleep or mood check with your team and keep track of symptoms alongside tests
