So I finally got around to trying Android Auto in my new-to-me car, and honestly, I’m a bit torn. The maps and messaging are great, but the whole interface feels cluttered compared to just using my phone on a mount. I keep wondering if I’m missing some simpler way to set it up, or if I just need to get used to it.
I get how the screen can feel crowded even when the maps are solid Android Auto is doing a lot under the hood Maybe trimming the home layout and using voice for things you dont want to tap could keep the dash calmer
From a practical angle Android Auto stacks apps and messages in a way that can feel busy You can customize the layout to show only what you need but it still feels crowded The trick might be to pick a lean setup and practice a single tap map for a while to build a habit
Clutter may be the price of keeping a lot of features in one place Maybe the premise misses that a car UI is already asking you to scan for safety Perhaps think of it as a feature and test if you grow into it over a few drives
Maybe the issue is not the interface but what you want to keep in view while you drive If a clean dash is the goal you could try a minimal mode and focus on maps and voice That could suit your riding style better
Sometimes I just ignore the extra stuff and use the map with voice and a quick reply when the car is stopped
Would a lean setup with a single map tile and voice control feel better or are you after a different balance
