Okay, I just saw the trailer for that new space horror film and I’m genuinely torn. The atmosphere looks incredible, but I have a real problem with jump scares—they just make me shut down instead of feeling thrilled. Does anyone else get that specific kind of disappointment when a cool premise relies on that tactic? I want to be creeped out by the idea itself, not just startled by loud noises.
I get that jump scares derail the mood for you. You want the idea to creep in and stay.
The premise feels cooler than the loud moment makes it look. Maybe the film could lean on atmosphere and mystery instead of bangs.
Space horror trailers often tease dread and then the first scream lands and you lose the thread you hoped would linger.
I am skeptical that a big plan needs a jump scare to land the vibe. A calm pull could work if the world feels true.
What if the threat is the unknown rather than a jump in your face. Does that framing work for you?
I wonder if more scenes are about what characters fear not the noise around them and that might be more uneasy.
