I’ve been taking the same bus route for years, but lately I’ve noticed it’s become really unreliable, sometimes showing up early and sometimes just not at all. Has anyone else’s regular commute just fallen apart recently, or is it something about my specific line? I’m trying to figure out if I should start leaving way earlier or just accept being late half the time.
That sounds really annoying I have had mornings like that too the bus shows up early and I rush then it vanishes and I am stuck waiting
In transit work people notice reliability moves with traffic patterns and how far ahead schedules are written if several factors collide the bus rhythm becomes off have you seen a pattern you can map?
Maybe you are chasing a myth I kept thinking this line had a fixed rhythm but small street changes or timing lights can throw the bus into a different pattern
I am not convinced the problem is the line itself maybe you are over blaming the timetable the bus keeps a similar cycle you just notice it more now
What if the real question is how we plan around a system that is imperfect rather than trying to squeeze the bus to behave like clockwork
Maybe try leaving a bigger margin and see if you still end up waiting or catching early buses half the time
Buffer time as a concept is about letting life breathe but there is more to it than that and this idea might change how you expect the bus to perform
