So I’ve been trying to cut back on my screen time lately, but I keep catching myself just scrolling through reels for way too long without even realizing it. It’s like my brain goes on autopilot. Does anyone else get that weird, almost dissociative feeling when you finally look up from your phone?
Totally feels like waking from a dream when I finally pause after too much screen time and look around.
The idea is not moral failing but a reward loop built into app design that keeps pulling you back to screen time.
I doubt a single trick fixes screen time the whole thing feels like a craving not a crisis.
Maybe the issue is not stopping the scroll but choosing what you want your attention to hold and what you want to train your focus toward in the realm of screen time.
As a writer I notice reels train quick jittery attention the rhythm makes returns easy which reshapes how we manage screen time.
I tried a tiny rule a timer to interrupt after a stretch of scrolling and it kind of works by making me notice the next thing I reach for in my screen time.
