I’ve been running a small hobby forum for a few years now, and lately I’ve hit a weird wall where it feels like the same five people are talking to each other. I keep wondering if I should try to actively grow it or just let it be a cozy, tiny corner of the internet. I’m not even sure how you’d go about forum growth without making it feel forced or spammy.
i love the cozy corner and growth feels like stepping into a bigger room it scares me and excites me at the same time
growth on a small forum usually comes from removing friction and from clear reasons to post consider a simple onboarding path and a few focused prompts
maybe you are chasing growth and missing the point a tiny group can stay intimate if the topics stay surprising
what if the question is not about growth at all but about purpose is the room for a hobby or a study group not a recruitment drive
to me growth could be about quality rather than size you invite a few better threads and see if the energy spreads
i worry about keeping up with ideas the pace matters more than the number of members a slower more deliberate growth could work better for you
try a guest post week a weekly prompt and a simple feedback loop you may discover a gentle growth without turning it into a marketing moment
