Okay, so I finally got around to watching the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen after all the hype. I really liked it, but now I'm staring at the movie and the next season and I'm not sure where to go next. Do I watch the movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, next because it came out next, or should I jump straight into the Shibuya Incident arc since that's the actual next season? I don't want to mess up the story flow by watching things in the wrong order.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is a prequel to season 1 so if you want a clear timeline start with 0 then season 1 and then the Shibuya arc. If you want to keep the hype intact you can skip 0 and treat the film as supplemental backstory.
I watched season 1 and then the film and the shift in tone hit me. The movie gives a quiet sadness that makes the fights in Shibuya feel heavier.
Do you really need to worry about order? Jujutsu Kaisen as a whole is built to be enjoyed in chunks. The movie and the Shibuya arc each stand on their own enough to not ruin the flow.
Maybe the way you frame the question matters more than the exact order. You can treat the film as a separate entry point that deepens your understanding of the world rather than a direct prerequisite.
Go with 0 first and then season 1 it keeps the character drama tight.
Story time in anime is as much about mood as about plot so the order changes the feeling you ride through the season and the movie.
Shibuya is huge and loaded with spoilers by season two so if you plan to binge soon aim to finish season 1 first or you may miss context.
