Okay, this is probably a dumb question, but has anyone else noticed their phone getting weirdly warm lately for no clear reason? Mine just sits on the desk next to me and after a while the back feels hot to the touch, even without any apps running. I can't figure out what's causing it.
Yep mine did that a few days ago and it felt warm even with no apps open, a sign of overheating.
If you want a quick check, see if there is a software update and try closing background tasks and turning off features that wake the screen a lot, because that can cause overheating.
Could it be the charger or a case trapping heat or a sunny spot on the desk making the phone feel hotter, which still counts as overheating.
Im skeptical this is a mystery every time phones warm up, that can be normal variation and overheating is not rare.
Reframe the issue as a sign of how heat is managed by the hardware and software rather than a single culprit, overheating shows up in different ways.
You might hear the term thermal throttling and it helps explain why overheating can feel like the device is cooling down while still staying warm.
