I had a weird thing happen yesterday where my vision in one eye suddenly got all wavy and distorted for about twenty minutes, like looking through old glass. It cleared up on its own, but it really spooked me. Has anyone else had a random episode like that? I’m not sure if it’s something I should just mention at my next regular appointment or if it warrants a call sooner.
That sounds really scary to witness in real time. I would have felt unsettled too and a bit shaken after it cleared up. vision can be strange like that when the nerves flare up.
Short wave like distortions can come from a migraine aura or a tiny disturbance in the eye or brain. If it repeats or lasts longer than a few minutes a medical check is smart sooner rather than later.
I get that it feels alarming but a one off blip could be nothing serious. fatigue, screen time, or stress can mess with vision for a moment.
Maybe the point is about how we talk about perception risks rather than labeling it as a fault in the eye. A single moment can read as calm to one person and urgent to another.
If it happens again try to note when and what you were doing.
I picture a scene where vision edges bend like waves in a pane and the narrator wonders if the world is telling the truth.
There is a concept of a transient visual aura that some people notice before a headache, but that idea by itself is not proof of a problem and there are other routes to check.
