Okay, so I’ve been bouncing between Steam and the Epic Games Store for a while now, mostly based on where my friends are or where a game is cheaper. But lately I’ve been wondering if I’m actually making things harder on myself by splitting my library like this. It’s not just about the launcher, but having saves, friends lists, and update schedules scattered. I’m starting to feel a pull toward just picking one primary storefront and sticking with it, even if it means missing a free game now and then. Does anyone else get that feeling, or am I just overthinking it?
I hear that pull toward a single storefront it feels calmer to have one place for your games saves and friends and updates a real hub would cut down on the juggling after all the hopping between Steam and Epic
From a practical view the split adds cognitive load and the risk of missing deals or updates you care about you end up juggling two calendars and two cloud save rules which feels almost like paying upkeep for a system you barely use
Do you worry about missing a free game if you lock into one store I get the vibe you want a predictable routine more than a treasure hunt
I am skeptical that one storefront will solve it the social graphs the friend lists and the cross store prompts will still show up you might trade one friction for another
Maybe the problem is not the stores but your workflow the idea of a smoother setup that travels across stores could be the right reframing you keep what matters like saves and friends but not every promo
Try a staged approach pick a primary storefront for a month and track what you gain and what breaks this is not a final verdict just a test
Small wins matter store choice is part craft part habit part luck the storefront mindset you settle into will shape how you use your library
