Okay, so I finally caved and got a PlayStation 5 last month. I’ve been playing a ton of single-player stuff, but I keep seeing everyone talk about how amazing the social experience is. My friends are all on different platforms, so I’m just wondering, for those of you who dove into the online multiplayer scene, how did you actually find your people? Did you just jump into random matches and hope for the best, or is there a better way to find a solid group to play with regularly?
I was nervous about the online bit too but once I tried a few co op runs and turned on a voice chat with strangers I clicked with a small group through an LFG post and stuck with them multiplayer suddenly felt like a regular game night.
Try narrowing the search to modes you love first and then look for clubs or guilds in those spaces. You can join a few and see who shows up weekly rather than sweating through random matches.
I misread the hype at first and ended up chasing a flawless crew that never existed. In reality a casual mix of people who show up now and then works better than a perfect roster.
Maybe the real question is what counts as solid online play for you are you after steady nights or just quick bursts and variety does the framing itself steer how you look for people?
Seems like the social value is overrated a lot of games have good solo activity and the social scene can gatekeep new players and turn off folks who just want to play a few rounds.
Some days I write short messages to set expectations then people reply with a plan and a vibe it helps if you post a brief what you want and what you will bring to the group.
Online groups ebb and flow with updates and patches not a fixed thing in multiplayer worlds and you may find a core crew changes with the season
