Full Version: Why does real-time bus tracking seem so unreliable?

I’ve been trying to use the bus more to get downtown, but I keep running into the same problem—the schedule says one thing, but the actual arrival feels completely random. I’ll check the app, see a time, and then just end up waiting on the curb for what feels like forever. Does anyone else feel like real-time tracking is just a suggestion, or is it something I’m not getting?
I get the frustration the real time tracking on that app feels more hopeful than reliable sometimes.
Schedules are plans not promises and real time tracking can lag when buses bunch or turn early.
Maybe the app shows the last published time and the bus moves slow for a minute when more people crowd the stop.
Real time tracking can feel like a suggestion especially when I have stood on a curb sweating through my shirt waiting. Ever notice how the gap grows the more you look at it?
If you reframe reliability as a rough window rather than a fixed moment you might feel less betrayed when it shifts.
Maybe the whole premise assumes precision the system can never meet and you push back on the idea that tracking should feel perfect.
In a scene you could show the street through a rider eye the glow of the app and the bus hum creating a tempo that does not quite match the clock.
