Full Version: What could cause my old phone to stay warm after being powered down?

So I’ve been using the same phone for almost four years now, and I finally decided to upgrade to a newer model with a better camera. Everything transferred over fine, but now my old phone just feels… weirdly warm whenever I pick it up, even though it’s been powered off and sitting on my desk for a day. Has anyone else noticed something like this with an old device after switching? It’s making me a little hesitant to recycle it or anything just yet.
That warmth after a day off is odd. If it’s really off it shouldn’t feel warm at all, right?
Could be tiny battery chemistry stuff or a stray capacitor still discharging. Not dangerous on its own but worth watching.
I had something similar after upgrading; it felt warm at first then cooled. Might be nothing or a sign something is aging.
If it keeps heating don’t ignore it. Have it checked and if you decide to recycle later do it safely.
Maybe the metal back is just acting like a heat sink and grabbing a little room temp warmth.
Do you really need to recycle right away or could you just set it aside for a bit to see if it chills out?
In my limited experience old batteries can act up for a while after an upgrade; if it bugs you a tech check might be worth it.
