I had a suspicious mole checked recently, and my dermatologist used a handheld scope to look at it, mentioning something about specific patterns. I've since read a bit about melanoma dermoscopy patterns online, and it seems incredibly detailed. For dermatologists, is recognizing these patterns something that becomes second nature with experience, or do you still actively compare what you're seeing to a mental checklist of criteria for every single mole?
