Yep crooked scans bug me too; time to try smarter apps.

Adobe Scan is solid for quick clean scans because it auto crops and edge detects text with OCR. Google Drive's built in scanner has gotten better at auto enhancement and easy saving to Drive.

Two starter combos work well for most folks. Adobe Scan for quick, clean scans; Google Drive for easy storage and access across devices. If you need heavier OCR and better layout preservation, ABBYY FineReader PDF mobile is strong, though it costs after a trial.

Here's a practical way to pick a scan app without turning it into a space mission. Decide what matters most: edge detection, brightness, OCR accuracy, or multi page support. Look for auto deskew, auto crop, and exports to PDF with searchable text. For most people in the US a simple duo works: Adobe Scan for fast captures and OCR, plus Google Drive for storage and cross device access; ABBYY FineReader PDF is a strong upgrade when you deal with heavy text or multilingual layouts, though it’s paid. Important note: Microsoft Lens is being retired; Microsoft now recommends using OneDrive’s built in scanning or other options, so if you’ve been using Lens you should plan a migration. In practice, test a couple of docs with one app, check edge alignment and keep originals safe, then stick with the one that feels natural and reliable. The goal is to get clean scans with minimal fiddling, not a space full of tweak tools. If you want privacy, look for apps that store locally or offer clear export options. And remember: a single reliable workflow beats a dozen feature rich but confusing tools.
