I know version control is important, but I'm curious about how crucial game development version control really is for small indie teams. Is it worth the learning curve for solo developers or very small teams?
Some version control benefits I've experienced include being able to experiment freely knowing I can revert changes, and having a clear history of what changed when.
Also, as teams grow, version control becomes essential for collaboration. Trying to merge changes manually is a recipe for disaster.
What's your experience with game development version control, especially for smaller scale projects?
