I just bought a used 2020 Toyota RAV4 with about 40,000 miles on it, and the previous owner followed the factory-recommended 10,000-mile oil change interval. I do mostly city driving with short trips, and I've always been taught that 5,000 miles is safer, especially for engine longevity. The manual says 10,000 miles is fine with synthetic oil, but I'm skeptical. For those with similar modern Toyotas or other vehicles with extended intervals, what's your real-world experience? Have you stuck with the manufacturer's recommendation, or do you shorten the interval based on your driving conditions, and have you noticed any issues like increased oil consumption?
