I'm a self-taught digital artist trying to improve my figure drawing, but I keep hitting a wall because my understanding of anatomy for artists is really superficial. I can copy references, but when I try to draw a figure from imagination or in a dynamic pose, the proportions look off and the muscles don't connect in a believable way. I've started studying anatomy books, but they're so medical and detailed that I'm overwhelmed. What's a practical approach to learning the underlying skeletal and muscular structure that actually translates to drawing, without getting lost in every single origin and insertion point?
