I'm a 42-year-old male with no prior cardiac history, but I've been experiencing intermittent, sharp chest pain on my left side for the past week, usually lasting only a few seconds. It's not brought on by exertion and seems unrelated to breathing or movement. I've seen my GP who did an ECG that was normal, but the symptom is worrying me. For others who have navigated similar unexplained chest pain, what diagnostic steps did you find most helpful beyond the initial screening? I'm trying to understand when to push for further tests like a stress echo or a CT angiogram versus when to explore non-cardiac causes like GERD or musculoskeletal issues, as the ambiguity is causing significant anxiety.
