I run a small boutique digital marketing agency with three employees, and while we're profitable on paper, I constantly feel like I'm flying blind when it comes to our monthly finances. My cash flow forecasting is basically just looking at our bank balance and upcoming invoices, which led to a scary crunch last quarter when two major clients paid late. For other small business owners or freelancers, what tools or methods do you use for accurate cash flow forecasting? How do you realistically account for variable expenses and late payments, and what's a good process for updating the forecast weekly or monthly? I need something more robust than a simple spreadsheet but can't afford expensive financial software yet.
