I'm a long-time true crime podcast listener, but I feel like I've exhausted all the major mainstream series and I'm looking for deeper, more investigative recommendations. I'm particularly interested in podcasts that focus on a single case per season with thorough reporting and ethical journalism, rather than sensationalized storytelling. For fellow enthusiasts, what are the best true crime podcasts you've discovered that might not have massive advertising budgets but deliver exceptional quality? I'm open to any format, but I value shows that respect the victims and families, incorporate primary source audio, and perhaps even contribute to ongoing investigations. Are there any specific seasons or standalone series that you found particularly compelling or that changed your perspective on a well-known case?
