I'm dealing with a persistent Windows boot issue on my custom-built desktop where it gets stuck in a repair loop after a recent cumulative update. The automatic startup repair fails, and I can't even boot into safe mode. I've tried using the installation media to access the recovery environment and run bootrec commands, but they haven't resolved the problem. For others who have faced similar Windows boot issues, what diagnostic steps should I take next from the command prompt? Is there a reliable way to access system restore or roll back the update without a functional GUI, or should I be looking at potential hardware failures like a failing SSD or corrupted RAM as the root cause? What's the most efficient way to back up critical data from the drive if I can't boot normally?
