I'm in the market for a new marine depth finder and the options are overwhelming. There are so many features and price points, and I'm trying to figure out what's actually important versus marketing fluff.
What features do you find most valuable in marine depth finders? Is side-scanning worth the extra cost? What about integration with marine GPS systems? And how important is screen resolution and visibility in bright sunlight?
Also, for those who fish, how do you use your depth finder differently than just for navigation? Are there specific features that help with finding fish or understanding bottom structure?
