Full Version: Is the iPhone 15 Pro's battery, thermals, and USB-C worth it after 12 Pro?

I've been using the iPhone 15 Pro for about a month now, upgrading from a 12 Pro, and I have mixed feelings about the daily experience. The titanium build is noticeably lighter, and the Action Button is a neat customization, but I'm not convinced it's a game-changer. The battery life has been inconsistent for me, especially when using the camera extensively or with 5G enabled. For other long-term users, what has your real-world experience been with thermal management during intensive tasks like gaming or video editing, and how are you finding the practical utility of the USB-C port beyond just charging? I'm also curious if the camera improvements, particularly for low-light video, are as significant as the reviews claim.
Real-world take: the 15 Pro delivers a solid productivity upgrade thanks to the big screen and the better multitasking — but it's not a tablet replacement. The device does run warmer during sustained gaming or high‑res video recording; not dangerous, just noticeable. Battery life is fine for a normal day, but with heavy camera use or 5G hot spots it can sag earlier than I’d like. I usually carry a compact power bank for travel.

Thermal management: in my experience, sustained heavy tasks will heat the back and you’ll see momentary throttling in the most demanding games; once you pause, it recovers quickly. If you work in hot environments or you push the camera a lot, consider enabling 'low power mode' or dimming the screen a bit to keep temps down. The titanium frame does feel cooler to the touch than metal on older models, but heat still pools around the camera bump.

USB-C beyond charging: I use a USB-C hub to connect a portable SSD for video editing on the go, transfer large files to my laptop, and even plug into a monitor for a bigger workspace. It’s handy for charging while editing or backing up footage. Some accessories are only semi-supported yet, but overall it’s a real productivity win compared to older iPhones that could only rely on wireless transfers.

Camera improvements for low-light video: I'd say yes, there’s a meaningful bump. Auto brightness and stabilization feel steadier, and noise is reduced in dim rooms. You still need good light, but the phone handles indoor ambient lighting better than my 12 Pro did. If you do a lot of night videos, you’ll notice the difference, especially with HDR video.

Overall assessment: the 15 Pro is a better phone for workflow when you rely on the device for work and media, but it isn’t a full tablet substitute. If you’re doing heavy editing or document creation on the go, you’ll want a Bluetooth keyboard or paired accessories. The upgrade is worth it if you want premium photos and a longer-term device; if you’re content with a phone plus tablet, you might sit this cycle out.

Question for others: what combination of apps and accessories has helped you maximize the folding-like productivity? Or are you mostly happy with a phone with a large screen but not a 'workstation' device? Do you regret the price or think the camera upgrade justified it?
