Full Version: What are best practices for bulk tagging and organizing a large Steam library?

I've been a Steam user for years, but my library has become a massive, unorganized mess of hundreds of games. I want to finally get it sorted so I can actually find things to play, but the built-in categories and tagging system feel limited. For other users who have tackled this, what's your method for organizing a large library? Do you create custom categories based on genre, completion status, or mood? Are there any third-party tools or scripts that work well with Steam's API to help with bulk tagging or discovering forgotten games? I'm also curious if there's a best practice for dealing with games from bundles that I'll likely never install.
Here's a practical approach I use for big Steam libraries: create 6–8 Collections to map your playing habits—To Play, In Progress, Favorites, Co-op/Multiplayer, Indie Gems, AAA/Ongoing, and Bundles/Unplayed. Tag games by genre or mood (you can rely on Steam tags but also maintain your own master tags in a spreadsheet). Then prune every few months: move dormant items to a “Backlog” collection or hide them. For bundles you’ll never install, consider hiding them or moving them to a dedicated Bundle backlog so your main library stays clean.
