I'm launching a small digital marketing agency and I'm drafting my first client service agreements. I'm trying to understand the essential clauses I need to include to protect my business, particularly around scope creep, payment terms, and intellectual property ownership of the deliverables. I've looked at online templates, but they feel generic and I'm worried they won't hold up if there's a dispute. For other small business owners, how did you approach your initial contracts? Did you work with a lawyer from the start, or did you use a template and then have it reviewed? I'm especially concerned about crafting a clear limitation of liability clause that's fair but also realistic for a new business.
