I just watched the latest Dune Part Two trailer and I'm blown away by the scale, especially the shots of the massive sandworm riding and the Harkonnen gladiator arena. As a huge fan of the book, I'm trying to parse the new footage for clues about how Villeneuve is adapting the second half of the story. The trailer seems to heavily focus on Paul's embrace of his Fremen destiny and the brewing war, but I'm curious about how they'll handle the more complex political and philosophical themes, like the prescient visions and the consequences of the jihad. For fellow book readers, what specific moments or details from the trailer stood out to you as particularly faithful or potentially a significant deviation from Herbert's narrative?
That sandworm sequence is stunning. It nails the scale and the raw power of Arrakis in a way Herbert described, and the imagery feels faithful to the book’s sense of awe. The arena-flash looks flashy, but the book’s version of political spectacle is grimmer and more strategic than a pure gladiatorial showdown.
