I'm considering buying a used 2020 Tesla Model 3 Long Range, but I'm concerned about long-term reliability and potential out-of-warranty costs. I've read mixed reports about build quality issues like panel gaps and early battery degradation, but also many positive ownership experiences. For current or former Model 3 owners, especially those with cars approaching the 50,000-mile mark or beyond, what has your actual reliability been like? Have you faced expensive repairs for things like the touchscreen, suspension components, or the HVAC system? Is the projected battery life holding up to daily charging, and would you buy the same car again knowing what you know now?

Reply 1: I’m at about 54k miles on my 2020 Model 3 Long Range. Reliability has been solid overall—no drivetrain failures or major reliability shocks. The big caveat is battery range drift: real-world range has declined from ~315 miles when new to roughly 280–300 miles depending on temperature and charging habits (roughly 5–10% loss). A few minor issues popped up (tire wear, small trim rattles) that were resolved without major cost. If you’re considering a used example, I’d budget for tires and regular maintenance, and check service history for any screen-related work or battery recalls.
