Our neighborhood association in a mid-sized city recently completed a two-year project to convert a vacant, overgrown lot into a community garden and gathering space. We faced challenges with city permits, fundraising, and coordinating volunteer labor from diverse residents. The project is finally finished, with raised beds, a composting system, and a small pavilion. I'd love to share our process and lessons learned as a community project showcase for others looking to undertake similar local initiatives. What details are most helpful to include—budget breakdowns, timeline hurdles, partnership strategies with local businesses, or maintenance plans? I'm happy to provide photos and documents.
Great project. Suggested showcase structure: start with a one-page executive summary, then a bold before/after section with photos, and finish with a concise impact and maintenance plan. Include a budget at a glance, a timeline of milestones, key partners, and a simple map of responsibilities. Add 6–8 photos to illustrate the journey.
