I'm in my late thirties and finally have a stable income, allowing me to invest beyond my basic 401k. My portfolio is currently heavily weighted toward tech stocks and a single index fund, which I know is risky. I want to improve my portfolio diversification but feel overwhelmed by the options. Should I be looking at international markets, bonds, REITs, or commodities? More importantly, what's a realistic asset allocation for someone with a moderate risk tolerance and a 20-year time horizon? I'm not looking for stock picks, but rather a framework for building a balanced, resilient portfolio that can weather different economic cycles.
