I'm up for a promotion to a senior project manager role, and I've been told to prepare for a salary negotiation meeting with HR next week. I've researched the market rate for the position in my city, but I'm unsure how to effectively present my case beyond just stating a number. What are some proven negotiation strategies for this situation? Should I anchor high, focus on my value and accomplishments, or try to get them to state a range first? I also want to negotiate for additional professional development budget, not just base salary.
