I work for a mid-sized city's public transit department, and we're in the early planning stages of transitioning part of our fleet to electric buses. Our main concerns are the upfront capital costs versus long-term savings, the real-world range on our hilly routes, and the infrastructure needed for overnight charging at our depot. We're also unsure about the long-term maintenance requirements compared to our current diesel fleet. Does anyone have experience with the operational realities of running electric buses, particularly in colder climates, and what were the biggest unexpected challenges or benefits you encountered after making the switch?
