I've been struggling with debilitating pelvic pain for years and was finally diagnosed with endometriosis after a diagnostic laparoscopy. My gynecologist has laid out several endometriosis treatment options, including continuous hormonal birth control, a progestin-only IUD, or a second surgery for more extensive excision. I'm overwhelmed by the choices, as each seems to have significant trade-offs regarding side effects, fertility considerations, and long-term efficacy. I'd really appreciate hearing from others about their personal experiences with these different paths, especially regarding pain management and quality of life post-treatment.
That does sound overwhelming. Endometriosis affects people differently, so what works for one person may not for another. A practical step is to list your priorities—pain control, fertility plans, side effects—and map how each option fits, then discuss a staged plan with your care team.
