I'm working on a short animated film where I need to isolate a dancer from a live-action reference clip to composite them into a painted background. I've tried using automatic masking tools, but the results are messy around the fast-moving hair and translucent fabric. I think I need to dive into proper rotoscoping techniques frame by frame, but I'm unsure about the most efficient workflow in After Effects, like whether to start with rough shapes and refine or to be precise from the first frame. Any advice on tools and methods would be a huge help.
