I just rewatched the Dune Part Two trailer for probably the tenth time, and I'm still picking up new details, especially in the wide shots of the siege on Arrakeen. The scale of those sandworm sequences looks absolutely insane compared to the first film. I'm really curious about how they're going to handle the time jump and the political maneuvering between the Houses, which the trailer only hints at with those quick cuts of the Emperor and the Bene Gesserit. What are everyone's theories on which scenes from the book might get condensed or expanded?
Sandworms look insane in that trailer. I think they'll cut a lot of Caladan/Politicking and plunge straight into Paul’s desert initiation and the Fremen alliance.
Hope they give Stilgar and Chani more room; the culture stuff—water rings, sietches—is what makes the book feel alive. If they lean into that, the action will feel earned.
Time jump theory: expect a condensed training arc. If they do, visuals and minimal dialogue will need to carry the transformation—Paul’s leadership vibe, the prescience hints—without losing audience who hasn't read the novel. The politics could be compressed into a few scenes showing the Emperor and Guild's maneuvering through the spice lens.
Guild and Imperial intrigue probably shown as short, dense sequences—boardroom scheming in a space-huge setting, etc. They might rely on montage and dialogue to establish stakes rather than showing every negotiation.
Bene Gesserit vibes: I think we’ll see whispers and rumors rather than full scenes; their influence might be a few lines and flashbacks to training.
What scene are you most hoping to see expanded, and which do you want left on the cutting-room floor? I’m torn between the desert rite and the political chess at the start.
