I'm a production designer for a low-budget indie period drama set in the 1920s, and my biggest challenge is creating a convincing, immersive atmosphere with very limited funds for set construction and props. Sourcing authentic-looking furniture and decor from that era is proving expensive and time-consuming. For other designers who have worked on similar projects, what are your most effective strategies for achieving period authenticity on a tight budget, particularly for key locations like a speakeasy or a wealthy family's parlor?
