I'm planning my first trip to a major Comic-Con this year, and while I'm excited, I'm also overwhelmed by the logistics of securing panels, navigating the exhibit hall, and managing the sheer size of the event. I'm particularly interested in the artist alley and smaller indie publisher booths rather than the massive studio presentations. For seasoned con-goers, what are your top practical tips for having a successful and enjoyable experience, especially regarding schedule planning, must-bring items, and strategies for discovering hidden gems on the show floor?
Bring a comfy bag and a portable charger. You’ll be on your feet a lot, and Artist Alley is where a lot of the best indie finds show up first.
Before you go, map out a few priorities: which indie publishers or creators you want to hit, any signing times, and prints you’re chasing. Use the convention app to star booths and set reminders, but leave a little wiggle room to wander.
