I just listened to the new double album from that acclaimed indie rock band, and while the production is immaculate, I'm struggling with its sheer length and lack of cohesive direction. It feels like two separate projects awkwardly merged, with the more experimental second disc losing the melodic momentum of the first. For listeners who have spent more time with it, do you find the disjointedness to be a deliberate artistic statement that grows on you, or does it ultimately undermine what could have been a tighter, more impactful single album?
