I just bought my first motorcycle, a used Yamaha MT-07, and I want to learn to perform basic maintenance myself to save money and understand the bike better. I'm comfortable with tasks like chain cleaning and oil changes, but I'm unsure about the interval and process for checking valve clearances, which seems more involved. For experienced riders who do their own work, what are the most critical maintenance items you prioritize on a naked bike like this, and are valve checks something a careful beginner with a service manual can realistically tackle?
