I'm looking to join a consistent clan for the new competitive season in our favorite FPS game, but I'm having trouble finding a group that fits my schedule and skill level. I'm a solid player who can commit to a few evenings a week for practice and matches, but most clans I see are either hyper-casual or demand daily, pro-level commitment. For players in similar mid-tier competitive clans, how did you find the right fit, and what should I realistically expect in terms of time commitment and team coordination for a clan aiming to rank up seriously without treating it like a second job?
Look for a mid-tier clan that has a sane schedule. Ask about the weekly practice nights, scrims, and whether there’s a short trial period to test fit.
I found a group with two practice nights and one scrim per week, plus a clear Discord structure. They care about improvement over prestige. Happy to share how I approached their leadership about joining.
Be upfront about your time and goals. Suggest a two-week trial with 2–3 practices, then re-evaluate. Ask about coaching, feedback style, and rotation for missed weeks.
Region/time zone question: what are your play windows? Also ask if they run open tryouts or 'guest' slots to sample the vibe before committing.
Watch for red flags: a real-time-only culture, no transparency on expectations, no feedback culture. Look for a clan with a code of conduct and constructive critique.
If you want someone to bounce options, I can pass along a couple groups I’ve heard of in similar time zones. Share your platform, region, and preferred play times.
